Childcare Worker

POSITION TITLE:     Childcare Worker
SITE:  Children’s Shelter
REPORTS TO:  Residential Supervisor
$10.50 - $13.50 hour

GENERAL FUNCTION:  Provides for the protection, physical safety and well-being of children (6-18 years) in a level 12 residential setting, supervises planned group and/or individual structured activities according to a daily schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Must possess maturity, good judgment and the ability to be a positive role model for children 6-18 years.  Experience in residential treatment and /or a BA in human science field required.  Must be a professional with the ability to effectively set limits and function in crisis-oriented and high stress situations.  Must be able to work as part of a team and be able to work shifts up to 10 hours in length.  Must have ambulatory, auditory and visual skills to observe and physically intervene with residents when required.  Must have the physical ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform related physical skills, including, but not limited to crouching, lifting 50 pounds, running, crawling on hands and knees, and walking up and down stairs.  CPI trained, bi-lingual and bi-cultural desirable.


For all positions applicants must be able to comply with employment requirements, including but not limited to; CPR/Pediatric 1st Aid Certification, satisfactory results of background check, health exam and TB test.
