Tamara Fleck-Myers, LMFT, Executive Director
Tamara Fleck-Myers, M.Ed., LMFT, brings over two decades of experience working with youth and families in the nonprofit sector as Casa de Amparo's Executive Director. Tamara has dedicated her entire career to improving outcomes for our community's most vulnerable children and families, including over 15 years in leadership roles within community-based nonprofit organizations. Her visionary leadership continues to enhance Casa de Amparo's reputation as a major force in the prevention, intervention, and treatment of child abuse and neglect throughout San Diego and beyond.
Prior to Tamara's appointment as Executive Director in July 2013, she served as Director of Programs and was critical to the oversight, growth, and development of many of the organization's existing programs. She held director positions with San Diego Youth Services and Salvation Army Door of Hope before joining Casa de Amparo in 2010. In addition to her management capabilities, Tamara has extensive direct experience with programs for children and families, including foster care, residential, mental health, day rehabilitation, substance abuse, and parenting. She envisions a world in which child abuse and neglect are not tolerated and child abuse awareness and prevention are priorities.
Tamara received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master's of Education in Counseling from the University of Georgia. She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist through the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, a California certified Group Home Administrator, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia, and remains involved in both local and national efforts to improve the lives of children and families.
When she's not overseeing and shepherding Casa de Amparo's vision, mission, staff, and volunteers, Tamara can be found spending time with her husband of over 17 years, Trent; their three children, Isabella, Owen and Lincoln; and the family dog, Roxy.
Chelle Sutyak, MA, Associate Executive Director
Associate Executive Director Chelle Sutyak, M.A., is responsible for overseeing Casa de Amparo’s operations, fiscal sustainability, and program quality assurance, and has been with Casa de Amparo since 2003. She participates in the organization’s broad strategic planning and decision–making and explores potential expansion opportunities for the agency’s continuum of services.
Chelle holds nearly two decades of social and human services experience. Her initial experience was as a Manager working in the field of developmental disabilities. After a brief foray into the international business field which included for-profit positions in Belgium, Singapore, and Malaysia, Chelle returned to the U.S. to resume her work in social services and pursue further education. Her work at Home of Guiding Hands in Lakeside, CA and her graduate practicum work with Alpha of San Diego, Inc., where she provided child/family therapy and parenting classes and worked with families in the child welfare system or those at risk of entering, eventually led to a position with Casa de Amparo as a Program Manager. She became Casa de Amparo’s Director of Programs in 2007, transitioned to the Director of Program Development & Quality Assurance in 2012, and was appointed to Associate Executive Director in 2013.
Chelle holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and Sociology from Grove City College (Pennsylvania), a Master of Arts in Counseling with a Marriage and Family Therapy focus from the University of Phoenix, and participates in the Fieldstone Foundation’s Emerging Leaders Network. She lives with her significant other, Ravi, and her stepdaughter Shauna in Rancho Santa Margarita. Chelle loves travelling with family and friends, with favorite destinations being island and beach vacations and Napa/Sonoma winery trips.
Emily Morgan, LMFT, Director of Programs
As Director of Programs, Emily Morgan, LMFT, oversees the efficacy of therapeutic treatment services for youth and families throughout Casa de Amparo’s continuum of programs. Programs under her supervision include the Child Development Center, Family Visitation, Counseling Services, Residential Services, New Directions, and Young Parent Network. She has been with Casa de Amparo since 2010 and is also responsible for training and supporting the professional development of staff and improving the quality of care for clients and their families.
Before coming to Casa de Amparo, Emily held a variety of therapist and counseling positions at South Bay Community Services, Salvation Army Door of Hope, and San Diego Youth Services. Her first role at Casa de Amparo was as Program Manager of Counseling Services until she was elevated to her current Director position.
Emily received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from San Diego State University and a Master of Arts in Marital and Family Therapy from Alliant International University. She lives in San Marcos with her husband, Jason; the two recently welcomed a baby boy, Anthony, into their family.
Jessica Moran, LMFT, Associate Director of Programs
Jessica recently joined Casa De Amparo in 2016. Programs under her supervision include the Child Development Center, Family Visitation, and New Directions.
Jessica began her career by working in managed care facilities and group homes as a behavioral consultant.Since her start in the mental health field she has work with children, transitional aged youth, and adults in a variety of settings. She has experience as a therapist and clinical manager though other local agencies including Palomar Family Counseling, New Haven Youth and Family Services, and The Center for Autism and Related Disorders.
Jessica received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from California State University, San Marcos and her Masters of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of La Verne. She currently resides in San Marcos with her husband David and their two dogs.
Katherine M. Karpé, CFRE, Director of Development
Director of Development Katherine Karpé, CFRE, has over 17 years of fundraising experience and has been with Casa de Amparo since 2003. Through vigilant stewardship and strategic planning, the Development Department is responsible for providing reliable financial, volunteer, marketing and in-kind resources to support Casa de Amparo’s mission.
Kathy oversees all fundraising and leads a Development team responsible for capital and major gifts efforts, all levels of donor relations (individual, corporate, foundation), special events, volunteer recruitment, gift drives and public relations. Before joining Casa de Amparo, Kathy worked at The Agency for Jewish Education.
Kathy is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and makes her home in San Marcos with her husband, Kevin, and their daughter, Enya, and their dog, Stibby.
Lili Chen, MSA, Controller
As Casa de Amparo's Controller, Lili Chen, MSA, is responsible for directing Casa de Amparo's accounting system and properly and accurately reflecting the organization's financial position to employees, the Board of Directors and the general public. Lili supports the organization's transparency and ensures accurate internal and external reporting of financial transactions, including monthly and annual financial statements. She also coordinates the annual audit and Form 990, assuring all schedules and financial information is accurate.
Lili came on board with Casa de Amparo in 2014 and brings over 8 years of experience in nonprofit accounting, 6 years of experience in profit accounting and global business, strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and performing varying functions on audit engagements and financial reporting.
Lili holds a Bachelor's degree in International Trade from Anhui University (Hefei, China) and a Master's of Science in Accounting from San Diego State University. She resides in San Diego with Bin, her husband of over 15 years. They have one daughter, Cynthia, and a cat named Ink Spot.
Marie Bruch, MSILR , Director of Human Resources
As Casa de Amparo's Director of Human Resources, Marie Bruch, BS, MSILR, is responsible for facilitating staff engagement, satisfaction, performance and commitment to Casa's vision and values, as well as promoting innovations toward employee development and sustainability of the agency. Marie is committed to driving automation and efficiency improvements toward the goal of maximizing staff work-life experiences. It is her goal to foster Casa's service-oriented and engaging workplace and further develop positive, continuous feedback staff relationships that contribute to the family-like feel of employment with Casa.
A native New Yorker, Marie has lived and worked in 7 states and abroad. Marie holds a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Relations from Le Moyne College, and a Master's degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from Rutgers University. Marie also attended the International Business Management Program at London Metropolitan University (formerly The Polytechnic of North London). She joined Casa in 2015, bringing with her over 15 years' HR and business leadership experience and a life-long commitment to children's special education and adoption advocacy.
Marie is an avid West Coast Swing and social dancer, singer, and road cyclist. She and her husband Mike have 7 children and reside in Carmel Valley.
