Casa de Amparo Just $1.3 Million Short of Goal Needed to Begin Construction of New Casa Kids Campus
Oceanside, CA (August 20, 2010) - Casa de Amparo has served abused, neglected and at-risk children in San Diego since 1978, but deteriorating facilities are getting in the way of program and service enhancements to expand our capacity to serve more children, youth and families.
Central to the plan is a new “Casa Kids Campus” to be built on 11.4 acres in Twin Oaks Valley adjacent to San Marcos. The new campus is the Phase II of a $16M project that also included the completion of Phase I--the Family Services and Hayward Child Development Center in 2007. Wells Fargo Bank has offered a $4 million loan if Casa can match funds and has extended their original July 1 deadline.
So far, thanks to the generosity of our community and supporters, we have raised over $9 million plus a $2 million Challenge Grant from The Leichtag Family Foundation and gifts from the City of Carlsbad, County Supervisor Bill Horn's Community Reinvestment Funds, Life Technologies, the Brausa Family Trust, the Sangham Foundation, Diane Martin, and the Ecke Family.
Now, more than ever, we look to the generosity of our supporters, community businesses, organizations and foundations to help us close the gap so we may immediately begin construction of the new Casa Kids Campus. The campus will allow us to more than double the number of abused and neglected children we are able to serve as well as offer new programs for populations such as children with special healthcare needs.
Your support will make a significant difference in the lives of abused children in our community. Please consider a donation to The Campaign for Casa Kids.
