$4 Million to be raised in 90 days to secure Wells Fargo loan for construction Oceanside, CA (April 23, 2010) – San Diego Child Abuse Treatment and Prevention organization Casa de Amparo has signed an agreement with Wells Fargo Bank to help provide financing for the construction of a new Casa Kids Campus, pending the organization’s ability to raise $4 million in 90 days. “Casa de Amparo is an exceptional non-profit organization and we are honored to have this opportunity to partner with them to build a place to help kids suffering from abuse,” stated Rob Myers, Wells Fargo Southern California Division Manager. Founded in 1978, Casa de Amparo supports those affected by and at risk of child abuse and neglect through a range of programs and services that promote healing, growth and healthy relationships. The Casa Kids Campus is part of a $16 million capital campaign to build new facilities and enhance programs for children aged birth to 24. The Family Services and Hayward Child Development Centers, located in Ivey Ranch, were built in 2007. The Casa Kids Campus will be built on 11.4 acres of land in Twin Oaks Valley that is owned by the organization. HomeAid San Diego, the local chapter of HomeAid America, Inc., is working with Casa de Amparo in the project. The organization partners with the real estate industry and other San Diego non-profits to build multi-unit housing that serves temporarily homeless families and individuals in the community. “We partnered with Casa de Amparo in 2005 when we adopted their Casa Kids Campus as one of our major projects. We will be bringing our real estate resources and building expertise to this project with in-kind donations to help defray the actual cost of construction. HomeAid San Diego is honored to be joining Casa de Amparo to complete their dream for the kids,” said Alexis Parker, Executive Director of HomeAid San Diego.
“Our new campus will be happy and homelike—the kind of environment that helps children feel safe and comfortable, enhancing their healing process,” said Sharon Delphenich, Executive Director. “Thanks to our generous supporters, we are fortunate to have raised $8 million of the $16 million needed. With a loan from Wells Fargo, in addition to the $4 million we need to raise immediately, we will be able to begin construction. We will continue to raise additional funds in order to pay off the loan and open the Casa Kids Campus debt-free as we were able to do with the Family Services and Hayward Child Development Center.” Joining Casa de Amparo, Wells Fargo and HomeAid representatives at a recent signing ceremony were County Supervisor Bill Horn and Nick Macchione, Director, San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency. “Casa de Amparo has long played a key role in helping at-risk children and parents reinforce family bonds and step away from cycles of abuse into cycles of healthy family relationships,” said Supervisor Horn. “Casa de Amparo is an important part of our safety strategy in how we in San Diego County care for abused, neglected and abandoned children,” added Macchione. “The enhanced programs and services they will be able to provide at the new Casa Kids Campus will be a great asset to the County’s assistance to children and families.” “Ninety days is a very short time,” said Delphenich. “We’ve overcome many challenges in our 32-year history and I am confident we will be successful with this one. We have already met with a number of potential donors and foundations who voiced strong support for this project. This speaks volumes about our community and how we place children as a priority.” For information about The Campaign for Casa Kids including naming opportunities and in-kind donations, contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
