Young Parent Network

The Young Parent Network is a program designed to address the needs of pregnant and parenting teens and young adults ages 21 and younger who are struggling with the emotional, financial and personal demands of being a parent.

The goal of the program is to increase the health, safety and well-being of children and families. We do this by following evidence-based practices to assure a safe home environment, develop positive parenting skills and teach healthy ways of coping with stress overall.

Services

  • Assessment
  • In-home case management focused on positive
    parent/child interactions, healthcare and safe
    home environment
  • Individual and group therapy
  • Peer support
  • Parenting education including:
    - Healthy ways of managing stress 
    - Positive discipline techniques
    - Communication & problem solving

Young Parent Co-Op

Clients of the Young Parent Network are able to participate in a Co-Op that creates a supportive social network that can continue after completion of the program. The Co-Op includes monthly family outings to encourage fun interactions and bonding between young parents and their children.

Cost & Eligibility

The Program is funded by the United Way of San Diego in partnership with Casa de Amparo and North County Lifeline. It is free to those who meet program criteria.

Location

Casa de Amparo Family Services Center in Oceanside and program sites of community collaborators.
