Casa de Amparo is excited to offer a variety of internship positions to help you as a student, gain valuable experience as you prepare for the future. Unpaid internships are available for students who are currently enrolled in a program whose field is related to the mission and purpose of Casa de Amparo.
These requirements do not apply for students who are interested in completing 20 hours or less within a semester. Instead, please complete the One-Time Event Volunteer Application.

REPORTS TO: Program Manager of Counseling Services
GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the supervision of the Program Manager and/or a Licensed Therapist, this position will manage the mental health treatment of 2-3 children and/or adolescents. Will direct all aspects of client’s individual, group, and family therapy, providing information, consultation, advocacy and collaborative treatment planning within the agency and in cooperation with outside agencies.
QUALIFICATIONS: Enrolled in master’s level study in social work leading to LCSW licensure, or other discipline leading to MFT licensure. Must have ambulatory, auditory, and visual skills to observe and interact in group activities and perform related physical skills, including but not limited to crouching, lifting 35 pounds and walking up and down stairs. Must have reliable transportation and flexible schedule. CPR/Pediatric 1st Aid certificate and Pro-Act training required.
EFFECT ON END RESULT: Under the direction of a licensed supervisor, this position assures the provision of professional, thorough, efficient, cooperative clinical assessment and treatment for each client.

SITE: Casa Kids Campus in San Marcos
REPORTS TO: Public Relations and Marketing Coordinator
General Function: This position will work with the communications team to support strategy and implementation by conducting research, developing content and participating in team brainstorms. The Social Media Coordinator will research PR contacts and industry trends on a regular basis, while also engaging in community management.
Qualifications: Qualifications include an interest or passion for social media, marketing and public relations. Candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills. The PR Coordinator Intern must work well independently, but be open to collaboration. Any candidate must be working toward or have completed a Bachelor’s Degree.
1. Developing and updating media lists
2. Conducting research to support social campaign concepts
3. Supporting event communication by raising awareness through specific channels
4. Researching influential media within local markets
5. Publishing content on social channels
6. Developing copy for emails, website and other marketing collateral, with a focus on social media
7. Community management and monitoring social communities by interacting with target audiences and reporting key learning's and opportunities
8. Archive print materials and transfer to digital copies
EXPERIENCE THAT WILL BE ACQUIRED: Exposure to nonprofit social services sector and experience in marketing and PR and social media.
EFFECT ON END RESULT:This position primarily supports PR for Casa de Amparo and thus ensures that the organization gains exposure and potential new support.
